Questions and Answers

“Does this coffee maker have a warming plate?”

No. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot so you don’t need a warming plate.

“Does it come with a permanent filter?”

No, you have to buy the permanent filter separately.

“What is the water reservoir made of?”

The reservoir is made of plastic.

“When brewing, should the lid be in the open or closed position?”

A Neither. The lid should be in the “pour” position when brewing.

“Does it have a brew strength selector?”

No. The amount of coffee grounds you put in is the only way to control the strength of the coffee it makes.

“What size of filters does this coffee maker use?”

It uses #4 cone shaped filters.

“Can you turn off the beeping noise it makes when the coffee is done?”

No. You just have to let it beep.

“Do you have to make the full 12 cups of coffee every time?”

No, you can make as little as 2 cups if you like. Any less than 2 cups does not work very well.

“Can I put the carafe in the dishwasher?”

No, you should always wash the carafe by hand.

Conclusion

This is a top of the line coffee maker. The only people that had problems where the ones who did not follow the instructions, and thereby did not use the machine properly. With proper use and care, the Cuisinart Programmable Coffee Maker will last for many many years. The coffee always tastes great, even after standing in the thermal pot for several hours. Unlike other other thermal carafes that make the coffee taste funny and cool off very quickly, the coffee from the Cuisinart tastes just as hot and fresh 10 hours later as it does when it first finishes brewing.

Most thermal coffee carafes only hold about 8 cups, or less. My wife and I wanted one that would give us 12 cups of coffee like a regular glass coffee carafe. After much searching, we finally found the 12 cup Cuisinart. My only complaint is that the indicator light is very small and hard to see
